How do you integrate the serum into an existing routine?
The serum can be applied both morning and evening. If you're using it for the first time, start by applying it every other evening to allow your skin to acclimate to it. Once your skin tolerates it well, you can use it daily, then twice daily.
Recommended routine:
🔹 Morning: Cleanser → Toner (if used) → Dark Spot Repair Serum → Moisturizer → Sunscreen (essential!)
🔹 Evening: Cleanser → Gentle scrub (twice a week, if part of your routine) → Toner → Dark Spot Repair Serum → Moisturizer
Which ingredients should you consider when combining with other products?
Our serum contains 1.675% salicylic acid and 5% niacinamide . It blends well with most ingredients, but here are a few things to keep in mind:
Can be combined well with:
✔ Vitamin C, tranexamic acid, alpha-arbutin & azelaic acid – These active ingredients can support the effect of the serum and accelerate the reduction of dark spots.
✔ Hyaluronic acid & ceramides – Moisturize and strengthen the skin barrier.
✔ Peptides & Centella Asiatica – Soothe and promote skin regeneration.
Be careful with:
⚠ Other BHA/AHA acids (e.g., glycolic acid, mandelic acid) – Combining them can irritate the skin. Gentle scrubs that wash off are compatible with the serum. However, if you want to use another leave-on product with acids, use it on a different day or in a different routine (e.g., scrub at night, serum in the morning).
⚠ Retinol & harsh chemical peels – Combined with salicylic acid, this can cause dryness or irritation. If you use retinol, use the serum in the morning and retinol at night.
For best results – what to combine with and how often to use?
For the most visible results in reducing hyperpigmentation, the serum can be combined with other lightening active ingredients, such as:
✔ Vitamin C (morning) for a radiant complexion
✔ Tranexamic acid or alpha-arbutin (morning & evening) for targeted lightening
✔ Azelaic acid for an even skin tone
For well-hydrated skin and a strong skin barrier, we also recommend:
✔ Moisturizer with peptides to stimulate collagen production - some peptides can also reduce hyperpigmentation
✔ Moisturizing cream with ceramides to strengthen the skin's protective barrier
💡 Tip: Consistency is key! Use the serum daily for several weeks for best results. And never forget sunscreen, as hyperpigmentation can worsen without protection.
Important active ingredients in the serum & their effects:
✔ Licorice Root Extract (Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract) – A powerful, natural ingredient for reducing hyperpigmentation and redness. It has antioxidant and skin-soothing properties.
👉 Tip: Combines well with vitamin C or tranexamic acid to reduce dark spots even more effectively.
✔ Lemon balm hydrolate (Melissa Officinalis Flower Water) – Soothes the skin, has an antioxidant effect and can reduce minor inflammation.
👉 Tip: Ideal for sensitive skin, but should not be combined with very strong exfoliating scrubs (AHA/BHA) to avoid irritation.
✔ Caffeine – Promotes blood circulation, helps against tired skin and can reduce swelling.
👉 Tip: Perfect for the morning, as it refreshes and revitalizes the skin. Can be combined with hyaluronic acid to counteract dryness.
✔ Glycerin & Pentylene Glycol – Powerful moisture binders that provide long-lasting hydration to the skin.
👉 Tip: Works well with all other ingredients in the serum and can be combined with other moisturizers such as hyaluronic acid.
Conclusion: Many skincare products can be combined well and complement each other perfectly. However, it's always important to check the ingredients of the products to avoid overusing the same potent active ingredients from different products. For example, you should look for a mask without salicylic acid if your cleanser and serum already contain salicylic acid. And always remember: less is more!
